Fast-Focus Cataract Surgery


A cataract is a clouding of the natural crystalline lens of the eye, thereby resulting in more blurred or distorted vision. Symptoms may include difficulty reading street signs or following a golf ball, trouble reading or sewing, or glare, star bursting, or ghost images. Although aging is the most common cause of cataracts, there may be other predisposing factors which can accelerate or result in cataracts at an earlier age, such as diabetes mellitus, oral steroids (Prednisone), radiation, trauma, chronic sunlight exposure or smoking.

Dr. Justo’s "FAST-FOCUS" cataract surgery uses the most modern "NO-STITCH, NO-NEEDLE, NO-PATCH" technique available today to rapidly and gently provide visual rehabilitation. The procedure is done as an outpatient using eye drop (topical) anesthesia without the need for post-operative stitches or patches. A 3 mm incision is made through the clear cornea, which is the quickest patch to the clouded lens of the eye, thereby avoiding any blood vessels or bleeding and allowing for a white, quiet eye post-operatively. Many patients are able to resume normal activities such as golf, tennis, or reading as soon as the next day!
